the argument map lands: `graph/`, `checkers/graph.py`, the `graph/` section of `AGENTS.md`

Maintainer ruling, stated in conversation. The argument map designed with Claude over 2026-09-30 to 2026-10-02 enters the repository: a top-level graph/ tree (the protocol, the frame, nodes, per-contributor event ledgers and the generated views), the checker checkers/graph.py wired into tests/run.py, and a graph/ section appended to AGENTS.md that binds agents working against it. The maintainer's words: the public landing "sounds fine"; and, on the design, build the known-better version rather than a placeholder, drop the illustrative handles, and "fill in numbers on the graph with AI to start, and humans can vet as we go … humans should just revise the numbers when they seem wrong." Accordingly the starting graph carries numbers written by an AI handle, marked as such everywhere they appear, at the bottom anchor of the judgment ladder; a human judgment on the same quantity supersedes them. The outside option (the default trajectory of AI development with no additional safety work) and the value of failures nobody has described are cases nodes with the maintainer's equal weights over the placed outcome classes, attackable like any node. The ranking is advisory: it orders tasks and names a leading plan, and nothing in the repository acts on it without a person. Its design is expected to change in use: the graph/ section of AGENTS.md directs agents to ask users whether the system makes sense and to revise it, every change and rollback is logged in graph/DESIGN-LOG.md, and the log is the record by which that malleability will be judged and, if it does harm, scaled back. Nothing in graph/ is a registered claim; the map cites registered claims and does not replace them. graph/PROTOCOL.md, graph/README.md, graph/frame.yaml and graph/policy.yaml are specification layer; nodes, events, the design log and the generated files are open to any contributor. Rejected alternative: a per-line placement under projects/ — the map spans every line, and its frame question is the repository's.
