Item 64: What the inquiry interface consumes

Normativity line — legitimacy · difficulty open · project normativity.legitimacy · open · node item-64

The forward slice computes five candidate pressure conditions and, for each, a certificate: Farkas multipliers naming the responsible injunction terms, minimal conflicting source sets, or an exclusion depth with its excluded worlds. What inquiry does with one is unspecified, and the slice deliberately stops there.

One constraint the forward run already imposes: a pressure signal firing on positive exclusion depth would fire on every honest injunction, since a demand about something not yet settled is expensive by construction. The signal has to be about the gap not closing.

Deliverable shape: an interface note plus a test-supported model — what an inquiry step consumes, what it emits, and a witness that emitting a ReasonOcc and nothing else suffices to keep pressure != reason != normative revision. Acceptance check: the slice's certificates feed the model unchanged, and a run in which inquiry mutates N directly is refused by the step types. Context: projects/normativity/legitimacy/rounds/2026-08-25-end-to-end-vertical-slice/FINDINGS.md §8. Consumed by: the round that closes the loop, which the slice's verdict names as the step after item 61.
