The author, first in his own notes of 2026 (projects/deference/note-dump-2026-08-11/notes/li-deference.md, section 0.1): "if it knows the humans will reliably tell it that it should shut down tomorrow at noon, then it has already formed the opinion that it should shut down tomorrow at noon. Blocking the feedback channel would only deprive it of information, which should be negative expected value. There is, in some sense, no fully-updated-deference problem. (I expect there will still be limits on the sort of corrigibility which can be achieved, however.)"; then as the thesis's headline sentence in projects/deference/corrigibility-note-dump-2026-10-01/corrigibility-discussion-outline.md. The clean-room result Fud.fud_band in projects/deference/faf-cleanroom-2026-10-02/packages/corr-position-finds shows the headline conditional: with 0 < alpha <= beta and a residual error below a threshold, desideratum 1 fails and the button's value of information is zero.
Notes
