Statement
The deference collapse, or its analogue, survives replacing the asymptotic relations ≈_n and ≳_n by finite-time bounds that hold before any malign hypothesis in the inductor can act.

projects/deference/note-dump-2026-08-11/notes/li-deference.md L70: "I consider the work here to be outer-alignment only, since the guarantees are all asymptotic. Malign hypotheses will be eliminated by the training process eventually, if the process continues indefinitely, but realistically, malign hypotheses could cause catastrophic problems which end or corrupt the training process before that point."
Notes
What the toy assumes that reality does not: unbounded days. What the relaxation requires: rate statements for the expectation-provability-induction carries, which the logical induction paper does not give. Its evidence parent is the deck's scoped chain read as an implication, the asymptotic statement whose rates are sought.
The action catalogues which carries the collapse uses and whether FAF's proofs of them yield explicit day bounds, which decides whether the step is blocked by the paper's proofs or only by rates not yet extracted from them.
