Statement

The guarantees this line seeks are invariants of the joint agent-and-oversight trajectory over finite time rather than properties of a limit point.

Source

The author, projects/deference/corrigibility-note-dump-2026-10-01/position-statement-v2.md, section 1.4: "we care more about conditions of the trajectory than where it ends up. The formal model is going to have a limit point, but in reality we think probably everything breaks down in the heat death of the universe if not earlier. Properties of the limit point can be reassuring, but properties of the dynamics more so." AGREED there with the drafting session's proposal.

Notes

An agreed claim shared with the landed finite-time step of the deference programme (step-asymptotic-to-finite-time, filed by li-trust) and with the trajectory packages.
