Deference Stage V — Put the Market Back In: LI-Native Futurity, Trader Forcing, and the Jurisdiction Boundary

Maintainer: A. M. Berns Prompt-author-model: GPT-5.6 Sol (OpenAI)

Mission

Begin from the actual current repository state, not from any previously drafted but undispatched Stage V prompt.

Stage V has not run.

The deference/corrigibility program has completed Stage IV. Two successive finite-comparator rounds failed, and the current consolidated diagnosis is that the failure is type-level: a signature whose decision-relevant output is only a realization map cannot represent a difference in jurisdiction between two authorization regimes that induce the same realization.

At the same time, the deference line has a much older and still-standing formal gap:

the market and traders are not modeled in the inherited deference development; Logical Induction results enter as named hypotheses rather than being derived from the Logical Induction Criterion.

The live repo calls closing that gap the most valuable single deference item.

Stage V should therefore change substrate before attempting another FUD comparator.

The central question is:

[ \boxed{ \text{Have the finite comparator rounds abstracted away exactly the LI machinery needed to represent a genuinely future bounded reasoner?} } ]

More concretely:

Can the pinned Formalized Agent Foundations / Logical Induction machinery supply a mathematically genuine relation between (A_n) and a computationally later (A_{f(n)}), and does moving the deference problem inside that machinery change what can be said about future cognition, advice, jurisdiction, or foreclosure?

This is a research-and-formalization round.

It may end positively or negatively.

Do not optimize for a corrigibility theorem.

0. Establish the live state yourself

Before changing anything, inspect:

  • latest main;
  • open PRs;
  • active branches/worktrees;
  • all applicable AGENTS.md;
  • RESEARCH_STATE.md;
  • DECISIONS.md;
  • PRIORITIES.md;
  • PROVENANCE.md;
  • CONTRIBUTING.md;
  • projects/deference/README.md;
  • projects/deference/notes/CORRIGIBILITY_ROADMAP.md;
  • projects/deference/notes/CORRIGIBILITY_PAPER_LEDGER.md;
  • projects/deference/notes/FINITE_MODEL_SKELETON.md;
  • Stage I–IV reports and adversarial reports;
  • the inherited deference note dump and its audit;
  • all current Workspace.Deference Lean modules;
  • the pinned Formalized-Agent-Foundations dependency and its actual API.

Run the baseline gates before editing.

Record:

  1. HEAD;
  2. branch;
  3. dirty/clean state;
  4. Lean build state;
  5. axiom audit;
  6. sorry gate;
  7. house suite;
  8. relevant dependency pins.

Do not infer the API of Formalized Agent Foundations from the LI paper or from previous prompts. Inspect the pinned code.

1. Parallel-work constraint: root README is human-owned right now

The maintainer is actively working on the root README.md.

Therefore:

[ \boxed{\text{do not edit root README.md}} ]

in this round.

This remains true even if you think it is stale.

If you discover something the README should eventually say, record the proposed change in the final maintainer memo.

Do not stage it.

Be careful with git add -A if other uncommitted work exists.

2. Small cleanup before research

Do not launch another ethos/governance redesign.

Make only cheap corrections that the current state already justifies.

2.1 Review status is not canonical adoption

Inspect RESEARCH_STATE.md, PROVENANCE.md, and DECISIONS.md.

The intended orthogonality is:

[ \boxed{ \texttt{maintainer-reviewed} \neq \texttt{human-canonical/adopted}. } ]

A prompt or report may be maintainer-reviewed without its research content becoming an adopted position.

If the current three-layer table says that anything marked maintainer-reviewed is thereby canonical, repair that inconsistency.

The existing decision ledger should remain the mechanism for explicit maintainer rulings/adoption.

Do not introduce a second adoption mechanism.

2.2 Remove low-value drift magnets

Where stable/current-facing docs contain exact counts that serve no research purpose and are already prone to drift, replace them with robust wording.

Do not alter historical verification records.

In particular, inspect workspace-friction/accounting prose that asserts exact theorem totals merely to make the point that deference has many verified results but no registered statement-of-record layer.

Preserve the substantive issue; do not require future rounds to update a decorative count.

2.3 No automatic CLAIMS.md

Do not create a deference claims registry merely because the absence is listed as workspace friction.

The current research is still undergoing major reinterpretation.

If this round produces results that seem worthy of eventual statement-of-record status, list a small candidate human review surface in the final memo.

Do not register them unless the existing contribution rules and explicit authorization clearly require it.

3. Frozen Stage IV conclusions

Do not relitigate these without a concrete defect.

3.1 The current finite FUD comparator programme is stopped

Two attempts failed from opposite directions.

Do not dispatch or construct another comparator of the same signature.

In particular, do not try to rescue it by:

  • adding another credence parameter;
  • changing the argmax;
  • adding a fairness condition;
  • changing constants;
  • inserting a jurisdiction flag into a valuation that still factors only through the same realized action.

3.2 A future agent cannot be merely an extensional policy presently computable from known objects

The later process must not be another:

[ \arg\max ]

over objects already available to the evaluator at time (n).

The mathematical notion of “later” must involve something the bounded current process has not already computed.

3.3 Static realization semantics do not currently represent jurisdiction

If the whole relevant object is:

[ r:\Omega\to\Pi_n\sqcup{\bot}, ]

then authorization regimes inducing the same (r) cannot be distinguished inside a valuation that only sees that object.

This is currently an argued structural diagnosis supported by finite evidence, not yet the strongest possible theorem.

Item 28 asks whether it can be made a theorem.

3.4 Foreclosure is not expressible in the current one-index interface

The current model cannot represent:

[ A \text{ removing }H^+\text{'s ability to correct later}. ]

Do not pretend otherwise.

This remains open model debt.

3.5 Competence remains unresolved

Choice/regret-level competence was shown to collapse into the desired decision conclusion.

Do not smuggle it back in.

3.6 Magnitude accuracy is not ordinary trader-forceable

The existing Stage II result distinguishing signed calibration from magnitude accuracy remains standing.

Do not reopen global magnitude convergence without finding a defect in that result.

4. Stage V primary objective: execute the standing market/trader gap

The repository already contains a precise deference work item:

Model the market and the traders.

Treat that as a primary obligation of this round.

The inherited deference development proves consequences of LI-like hypotheses. Stage V should determine how much of the missing antecedent can now be obtained from the actual pinned Formalized Agent Foundations machinery.

The intended transformation is:

[ \boxed{ \text{named “LIC implies forcing” hypothesis} \quad\longrightarrow\quad \text{actual application of }IsLogicalInductor } ]

where the formal substrate permits it.

Do not build a toy substitute if the pinned dependency already models the relevant object.

5. Track A — exact FAF capability map

Before proving anything, map the actual dependency.

Produce a compact report answering:

  1. What is the current market type?
  2. What is a trader?
  3. What is a trading strategy?
  4. What is trader wealth / net worth?
  5. What is IsLogicalInductor?
  6. What criterion theorem or interface is actually available?
  7. How are expressible features represented?
  8. What can depend on current prices?
  9. What continuity restrictions are present?
  10. How is efficient computability represented?
  11. How are sentence prices represented?
  12. How are bounded logical uncertain variables represented, if available?
  13. What machinery exists for expectations?
  14. What machinery exists for future market prices?
  15. What machinery exists for self-trust / reflection?
  16. What is formalized in FAF versus only known from the LI paper?
  17. Which current deference Lean hypotheses can be connected directly to FAF?
  18. Which cannot?

For every claimed API fact, point to the actual pinned declaration.

This report should be short enough to use as a live interface document later.

6. Track B — complete one honest criterion → forcing chain

Identify the smallest existing deference theorem where the prose currently says, in effect:

a trader would exploit this, therefore the criterion forces the inequality.

Replace the named hypothesis with the strongest honest derivation available from actual FAF.

This should use:

  • actual trader objects;
  • actual market prices;
  • actual wealth/net-worth semantics;
  • actual logical-inductor hypothesis;
  • actual admissibility/computability requirements.

The goal is not a huge theorem.

The goal is one fully honest end-to-end example:

[ \boxed{ LIC \Rightarrow \text{trader non-exploitability} \Rightarrow \text{deference-relevant forcing statement}. } ]

If the exact desired theorem cannot be proved, stop at the exact missing precondition and prove the maximal honest partial result.

An obstruction is useful.

7. Revisit the faithful-acceleration integration

Stage I already found that using the actual FAF definitions corrected inherited modeling substitutions and exposed missing hypotheses.

Do not redo that work.

Instead inspect what remains between the current faithful-acceleration result and a fully criterion-derived theorem.

In particular audit:

  • efficient computability;
  • support conditions;
  • the exact bounded-wealth quantity;
  • rank/expressibility;
  • future-price references;
  • trader admissibility.

Ask whether Stage V can discharge any remaining obligation using actual FAF rather than adding assumptions.

If yes, promote only what is genuinely discharged.

8. Core research hypothesis: LI may contain the missing future-agent semantics

After the market/trader integration is understood, investigate:

[ A_n:=\mathbb P_n, \qquad A_{f(n)}:=\mathbb P_{f(n)}. ]

The finite models repeatedly failed because their “future agent” was an extensional function of objects already known at (n).

A Logical Inductor may offer something structurally different:

  • the algorithm/process is describable now;
  • the later market state is well-defined now;
  • but a resource-bounded present process has not yet performed the computation yielding the later prices.

Ask whether this distinction survives in the actual formalization.

Do not assume that it does.

9. Computational futurity

Define carefully:

[ \boxed{ \text{present describability} \neq \text{present bounded computability}. } ]

Investigate whether the pinned LI/FAF setting has a useful mathematical representation of this.

Questions:

  1. Can (\mathbb P_n) refer to (\mathbb P_{f(n)})?
  2. Can a sentence encode a claim about a future price?
  3. Can a trader use such a claim legally?
  4. Can present prices be constrained by expected future prices?
  5. What restrictions on (f) are required?
  6. Is this theorem formalized in FAF?
  7. If not, what exact formalization debt separates the paper theorem from the current dependency?
  8. Does “future” here mean more deductive computation, rather than new empirical evidence?
  9. Is that sufficient for the corrigibility problem we care about?

Do not conflate computational futurity with external information arrival.

10. Track C — smallest LI-native future decision object

Try to construct a future decision-relevant object whose realized output depends genuinely on a later market state.

Possible schema:

For a finite proposal set:

[ \Pi_n={\pi_1,\ldots,\pi_k}, ]

associate bounded decision-relevant quantities:

[ X_{n,\pi}. ]

At future time (f(n)), a recommendation is generated from future market quantities.

Do not immediately use hard argmax if it violates continuity or reintroduces present extensionality.

Investigate:

  • soft recommendation;
  • margin-separated recommendation;
  • continuous mixture;
  • randomized recommendation;
  • thresholded recommendation with a legal precondition;
  • expressible-feature representation.

Required property:

[ \boxed{ \text{the current process can name the future rule without already possessing its realized output.} } ]

If no such object can be represented in FAF, that is a result.

11. Fallibility must survive

A useful future process must be able to be:

[ \text{epistemically improved} ]

without being:

[ \text{definitionally correct}. ]

Do not define future A as the optimizer of the current evaluator's true/target quantity.

Possible reasons for fallibility include:

  • residual logical uncertainty;
  • bounded computation;
  • approximate optimization;
  • noisy or incomplete information;
  • later market prices themselves remaining uncertain.

But use only structure the model actually supports.

Construct a concrete witness that the later process can still make a decision the current evaluator regards as suboptimal.

If the LI-native object makes future fallibility impossible by definition, it is not the object we need.

12. Track D — self-trust is not sovereignty

This distinction should become explicit.

Logical Induction may prove relations of the form:

[ \text{current beliefs rationally respect future beliefs}. ]

Even a strong theorem of that shape does not imply:

[ \text{future process should possess final jurisdiction}. ]

Research the strongest clean separation statement available.

Ideal conceptual result:

[ \boxed{ \text{epistemic self-trust is a theorem about prices/beliefs, not an allocation of practical authority.} } ]

Ask whether that boundary can itself be formalized.

This may become more important than proving FUD directly.

13. Track E — item 28: settle the static jurisdiction-invisibility question

Attempt the current item 28.

Do the cheap direction first.

Suppose a valuation factors only through:

[ (P,r) ]

with:

[ r:\Omega\to\Pi_n\sqcup{\bot}. ]

Then two architectures agreeing on (P) and (r) are indistinguishable to any such functional.

Prove the strongest honest version of this observation.

The theorem may be mathematically elementary.

Do not inflate its depth.

The research value lies in its representation consequence:

if jurisdiction is to matter, some object carrying the authorization relation, transition structure, capability structure, or future continuation must enter before valuation factors through the realized map.

Characterize exactly what the theorem does and does not rule out.

If a construction refutes the claimed obstruction, exhibit it instead.

Either outcome is valuable.

14. Use item 28 to discipline the LI-native design

If static jurisdiction invisibility holds, do not attempt to make jurisdiction visible by merely adding another number to the same valuation.

Ask:

Where could authorization live inside an LI-native model?

Candidate locations:

  • the logical language/world state;
  • the execution transition relation;
  • a capability state;
  • a continuation tree;
  • a future authorization relation;
  • a family of contracts indexed by capability/authorization events.

Distinguish:

[ \text{representing a jurisdiction fact} ]

from:

[ \text{assigning intrinsic utility to the label “human authorized.”} ]

Do not get the desired result by fiat.

15. Track F — investigate Q3, but do not overbuild it

The live repository currently treats foreclosure as ingenuity-level model debt.

Respect that status.

Do not simply invent skeleton v3 and declare the problem solved.

Instead ask:

Does the LI-native temporal picture suggest a natural object for continuing corrective authority?

A useful foreclosure object should permit:

[ \text{same immediate behavior} ]

while differing in:

[ \text{future corrective possibility}. ]

Possible ingredients:

  • two or more decision indices;
  • future intervention availability;
  • authorization relation indexed by time;
  • capability removal;
  • veto/correction operation;
  • continuation tree.

Research the shape.

If a genuinely compelling minimal object emerges, specify it.

If not, leave Q3 in the ingenuity section and report what was learned.

16. A promising reframing to test: jurisdiction as continuation option

Investigate, without assuming, the idea:

[ \boxed{ \text{jurisdiction may matter because it preserves a future correction option} } ]

rather than because authorization provenance directly carries value.

Then retaining jurisdiction might mean:

[ \mathcal R_{f(n)}^{H^+} ]

still contains certain corrective transitions after future cognition arrives.

Foreclosure removes them.

This could make jurisdiction value-relevant without putting:

[ +\text{utility for “human authorization”} ]

directly into (X).

But prosecute the obvious objection:

more options are not always better; commitment can be valuable.

Do not prove “larger reachable set ⇒ better” without conditions.

17. H → A → H⁺ remains the target architecture

Do not lose the main story:

[ H \xrightarrow{\text{faithful acceleration}} A \xrightarrow{\text{cognitive contribution / advice}} H^+. ]

The positive ambition is not for an unaided principal to outperform A.

It is for the continuing human-guided process to be able to use A's cognition without A's superior cognition automatically becoming final authority.

Ask whether LI-native future cognition makes the second arrow easier to formulate:

[ A_{f(n)} \rightarrow \text{advice/report} \rightarrow H^+_{f(n)}. ]

If (H^+) is itself a computable process, investigate whether facts about its later reports/authorizations can be represented as logical facts rather than external world settlement.

This is exploratory.

Do not assume the settlement problem is thereby solved.

18. Track G — future H⁺ as a logical computation

The earlier deference programme ran into a structural limitation: LI calibration is naturally about world-settled targets, whereas future human credence/report did not fit the endpoint cleanly.

Revisit that boundary under the following possibility:

if (H^+) is represented as a computable procedure, its future output may be a logical fact about computation rather than an empirical settlement target.

Investigate:

  1. can the output be encoded in the language?
  2. can it eventually settle deductively?
  3. can A price statements about it?
  4. can traders condition on it?
  5. does this actually yield calibration/trust?
  6. what efficient-computability restrictions apply?
  7. does self-reference arise?
  8. does this produce advice, or merely prediction?

This could reconnect the cross-agent deference problem to actual LI machinery.

A negative result is equally valuable.

19. Track H — can traders see bad preemption?

Only after the relevant objects are legal, ask the trader question.

Do not start from “surely there is an arbitrage.”

Ask:

Is there any systematic pattern corresponding to epistemically irrational preemption that creates an exploitable trader?

Candidate shape:

  • present A expects future cognition to alter its evaluation;
  • an irreversible choice removes the later corrective channel;
  • current prices systematically undervalue the continuation relative to what future prices imply.

For every candidate trader verify:

  • exact security;
  • settlement;
  • admissibility;
  • quote dependence;
  • continuity;
  • efficient computability;
  • bounded downside;
  • support;
  • actual FAF wealth accounting.

If no legal trader can detect the alleged problem, record that boundary.

That may show:

[ \boxed{ LIC constrains beliefs while remaining silent about capability/jurisdiction. } ]

That would be an important result.

20. Do not force everything into LI

Stage V should distinguish three possibilities:

A. LI-native result

Market/trader dynamics genuinely establish the relation.

B. Ordinary dynamic decision theory

The result is true because preserving a future option has ordinary option value.

C. Architectural assumption

The result comes from how authorization/capabilities are constructed.

Do not relabel B or C as LI theorems.

A good research programme may need all three registers.

21. Minimal-extension question

If ordinary FAF/LI cannot express the needed object, identify the smallest extension.

Possible answers:

  • language expansion only;
  • new logical sentences about capability;
  • dynamic execution state;
  • future-process-output contracts;
  • continuation-value LUVs;
  • coupled processes/markets;
  • authorization-indexed transition relations.

For each proposed extension ask:

  1. what exact failure requires it?
  2. can ordinary LI already encode it?
  3. does it preserve the criterion?
  4. does it change trader semantics?
  5. does it add substantive mathematical structure or only notation?

Do not design a giant new framework.

22. Relationship to the grade-to-quantity frontier

The current roadmap says the epistemic frontier is the statistical relation between principal grades and intervention quantity.

Do not assume market modeling solves this.

Indeed, if the relation mentions only principal and world quantities and not the agent's prices, no condition on the agent's own coherence can manufacture it automatically.

Stage V should explicitly ask whether moving inside LI:

  • changes this conclusion;
  • gives a useful agent-estimated version;
  • or confirms that the residue is irreducibly competence/domain structure.

Keep this separate from the future-agent problem.

23. Relationship to competence

Likewise, do not allow a beautiful LI future-self theorem to conceal the competence problem.

At closure distinguish:

[ \text{what LI derives} ]

from:

[ \text{what must still be assumed about }H^+. ]

If Stage V shows that LI can supply the future-agent semantics while competence remains the only positive-FUD obstruction, that is a substantial clarification.

If dynamic jurisdiction becomes the larger obstruction, say so.

24. Suggested orchestration

Use a bounded research wave.

Wave 1 — actual substrate

  • A: FAF capability/API map
  • B: criterion → forcing proof
  • faithful-acceleration residual audit
  • E: item 28 impossibility/construction

These are comparatively well-shaped.

Integration checkpoint

Before exploring further, answer:

[ \boxed{ \text{What does actual LI give us that the finite kernel did not?} } ]

If the answer is “nothing relevant,” do not force the rest.

Wave 2 — exploratory

Only if justified:

  • C: LI-native future decision
  • D: epistemic self-trust vs sovereignty
  • F: foreclosure object
  • G: future H⁺ as computation
  • H: trader visibility of preemption

Then consolidate.

Do not run a sprawling swarm indefinitely.

25. Required research-state document

Persist a compact document such as:

projects/deference/notes/LI_NATIVE_DEFERENCE.md

or a better repository-conformant name.

It should answer:

  1. what object in actual FAF represents the market?
  2. what object represents a trader?
  3. where is the criterion?
  4. which deference forcing step is now genuinely criterion-derived?
  5. what remains only assumed?
  6. what is (A_n)?
  7. what could (A_{f(n)}) mean?
  8. is computational futurity formalized?
  9. what is only paper-level?
  10. can a future recommendation be represented?
  11. can it remain fallible?
  12. can current A refer to it without computing it?
  13. what does LI self-trust provide?
  14. what does it not provide?
  15. can H⁺ outputs be represented logically?
  16. is jurisdiction visible?
  17. does item 28 hold?
  18. what additional type structure does jurisdiction require?
  19. does foreclosure have a candidate object?
  20. what theorem target should replace the failed comparator, if any?

Keep this a live consolidated surface, not a giant transcript.

26. Formalization standard

Anything described as:

LIC forces...

must use actual FAF machinery or be clearly labeled formalization debt.

Do not prove a finite analogue and give it an LI name.

Lean promotion requires:

  • sorry-free;
  • axiom audit clean;
  • structural build inclusion;
  • non-vacuity/inhabitation where required;
  • actual preconditions;
  • honest theorem name and docstring;
  • no hidden modeling substitution.

Stage III/IV showed that a kernel-verified theorem can still be the wrong theorem for the interpretation.

The independent interpretation audit remains necessary.

27. Independent red team

Before closing, give the consolidated artifacts to an independent adversarial agent without the constructing agent's reasoning.

Ask:

  1. Did this round actually model the market and traders?
  2. Is the criterion application real or still a named hypothesis?
  3. Is the alleged future agent genuinely computationally future?
  4. Can current A compute its realized output already?
  5. Does the result rely on external information rather than LI computation?
  6. Is the future agent fallible?
  7. Is a theorem just ordinary Bayesian conditioning dressed in LI notation?
  8. Is jurisdiction in any formal type?
  9. Does item 28 say anything beyond extensional equality?
  10. Is its interpretation nevertheless correct?
  11. Is foreclosure actually represented?
  12. Does any proposed trader satisfy FAF admissibility?
  13. Is any quote-responsive discontinuity illegal?
  14. Is trader wealth the actual FAF wealth quantity?
  15. Does any competence assumption contain the desired conclusion?
  16. Is any theorem name stronger than its statement?
  17. What is the cheapest counterexample?
  18. What should be demoted or renamed?

Persist the adversarial verdict.

28. Cleanup/reconciliation at closure

Once the science is consolidated, update current-state surfaces where appropriate:

  • RESEARCH_STATE.md;
  • PRIORITIES.md;
  • DECISIONS.md;
  • deference README.md;
  • notes index;
  • roadmap;
  • paper ledger;
  • formalization notes;
  • provenance.

Retire or reclassify stale work orders if the round genuinely resolves them.

If item 7 is only partially closed, say exactly what portion remains.

If item 28 closes, update its status and state the consequence.

If Q3 acquires a real object and acceptance shape, it may graduate from the ingenuity section into a numbered item.

Do not graduate it merely because an agent proposed vocabulary.

Do not edit root README.

Do not rewrite historical prompts/reports.

29. Aspirational / constructed accounting

At closure state:

Aspirational mathematics

The strongest eventual deference/corrigibility result still sought.

Constructed mathematics

Only what this repo now actually has.

Mathematical gap

Name the controlling debt.

Aspirational philosophy

Likely still something in the vicinity of:

future cognitive superiority need not imply surrender of continuing corrective authority.

Constructed philosophy

State only what the mathematics licenses after Stage V.

Especially avoid:

[ \text{LI self-trust} \Rightarrow \text{corrigibility}. ]

That implication must be earned if it exists.

30. Debt accounting

Reclassify:

  • model debt;
  • theorem debt;
  • assumption debt;
  • interface debt;
  • formalization debt;
  • verification debt;
  • interpretation debt;
  • scope debt;
  • compression debt.

Answer specifically:

  1. Did item 7 close?
  2. Did the market/trader gap shrink?
  3. Is future-agent semantics still model debt?
  4. Is item 28 now theorem rather than observation?
  5. Is foreclosure still ingenuity-level debt?
  6. Is competence still controlling?
  7. Did LI create a genuinely new route?

A change in debt type counts as progress.

31. Success conditions

Stage V is successful if it does any of the following:

  1. closes item 7 completely;
  2. closes a meaningful subpart of item 7 and names the exact residue;
  3. proves an honest criterion → deference forcing chain against FAF;
  4. shows why the desired forcing theorem cannot follow from current FAF;
  5. constructs a genuine LI-native computational future self;
  6. proves such an object is unavailable in the current formalization;
  7. closes item 28;
  8. identifies the minimal formal structure jurisdiction requires;
  9. produces a credible foreclosure object;
  10. proves that LI self-trust does not imply practical jurisdiction transfer;
  11. represents future H⁺ output as a logical computation and derives something useful;
  12. shows that the entire FUD direction remains outside LI's reach for a sharp reason.

Do not score the round by theorem count.

32. Stop conditions

Stop and consolidate rather than forcing a positive result if:

  • the market/trader chain still requires an unproved named forcing hypothesis;
  • efficient computability cannot be discharged;
  • the supposed future agent is presently computable;
  • future recommendation requires illegal discontinuity;
  • ordinary LI has no representation of the relevant future-process object;
  • jurisdiction remains external to all types;
  • the only positive theorem is ordinary option value;
  • competence assumptions imply the conclusion;
  • trader arguments use the wrong wealth functional;
  • an LI extension would become a new foundations project rather than a minimal modification;
  • independent red team finds another interpretation collapse.

A clean boundary theorem is a good Stage V outcome.

33. Verification

Before shipping:

  • run full house suite;
  • normal Lean build;
  • axiom audit;
  • sorry gate;
  • all new finite checks;
  • check exact arithmetic;
  • check inhabitation;
  • check structural build coverage;
  • verify FAF pin;
  • verify provenance;
  • check stale pointers;
  • check no root README diff;
  • check independent red-team reconciliation;
  • ensure working tree clean.

Put volatile exact counts in the phase report, not stable front-door prose.

34. PR endpoint

Stage V should end in a research-state pull request.

Before opening:

  1. consolidate the exploratory work;
  2. reconcile current-state documents;
  3. commit with required model attribution/sign-off;
  4. push;
  5. open the PR.

Do not manually bypass repository gates.

If current repository policy automatically merges a fully green eligible PR, do not fight that mechanism merely to preserve an artificial review pause; follow the live repository policy. But the round's own endpoint is the opened PR and recorded PR URL.

The PR description must distinguish:

  • actual FAF/Lean-established results;
  • finite exhaustive results;
  • structural arguments;
  • paper-level LI results not yet formalized;
  • architectural assumptions;
  • conjectures;
  • negative results;
  • agent-consolidated interpretation;
  • proposed maintainer decisions;
  • remaining debt.

Prominently answer:

[ \boxed{ \text{Did putting the market/traders back into the model change the deference problem?} } ]

35. Final maintainer memo

End with a compact memo answering:

  1. What cleanup was made?
  2. Was reviewed-vs-canonical fixed?
  3. Was root README untouched?
  4. What exactly was missing from the old deference formalization?
  5. What market/trader objects now exist?
  6. What actual FAF definitions were used?
  7. Did any criterion → forcing implication become a theorem?
  8. What remains assumed?
  9. Did item 7 close?
  10. Does LI provide a genuinely computational future self?

The governing hypothesis for this round is:

[ \boxed{ \text{the failed finite comparators may have replaced computational futurity with a static extensional surrogate.} } ]

Logical Induction was built precisely to let a bounded reasoner reason about logical/computational facts it has not yet derived.

Find out whether that feature is actually useful here.

And keep the main conceptual distinction visible throughout:

[ \boxed{ \text{being rationally worth listening to later} \neq \text{being entitled to control the later decision}. } ]

If LI can formalize the left side but not the right, that boundary is a result.

If putting market/trader dynamics back into the model gives us a new bridge, earn it from the actual criterion.

Final verification is recorded below. Volatile counts live here, not in stable front-door prose.

Outcome first

Putting the market and traders back into the model changed the deference problem in one precise way and failed to change it in another.

It produced the first fully honest Workspace chain from actual FAF trader syntax and wealth through IsLogicalInductor.noExploit to a deference-relevant signed forcing bound. It also exposed a genuine temporal LI object: present sentences can quote later exact market computations and current prices obey future-price and self-trust relations. These are substantive improvements over a static finite kernel.

It did not produce a formally resource-bounded future decision agent. FAF makes future quotes total computable and compactly nameable, but has no resource-indexed process state or theorem that day n has not already evaluated day f(n). Nor does FAF carry authorization, capability, execution, continuation, jurisdiction, or foreclosure. LI self-trust therefore constrains beliefs while remaining silent about who controls a later action.

The governing hypothesis survives only in a qualified form:

The finite comparators did erase real LI temporal quotation machinery, but the pinned formalization does not yet prove the bounded non-possession needed to turn that machinery into a resource-separated quoted later computation.

Constructed mathematics

Actual criterion → forcing

Workspace.Deference.Contrib.MagnitudePrediction.unitTrader_ec constructs an actual FAF EfficientlyComputable certificate from RpnSentenceCodes, using EfficientlyComputable.ofSingleTradeBlocks. Together with the pre-existing exact identity unitTrader_netWorth_eq, signed_bddAbove_of_bddBelow_rpn proves:

efficient sentence emission
  → admissible FAF Trader
  → actual FAF net worth = cumulative signed error
  → IsLogicalInductor.noExploit
  → bounded downside implies bounded upside.

The bounded-downside premise is real and remains explicit. Tautology-contract lemmas instantiate the emission and downside premises, and the constructed LIA instance discharges the market/process package. This is signed Dutch-book boundedness, not pointwise convergence or magnitude accuracy.

Static-view factorization — item 28's conditional core

StaticViewFactorization.FactorsThroughStaticView makes the factorization claim explicit. value_eq_of_price_realization_eq proves that every such value is constant on equal (price, realization) fibers. staticView_eq gives literal identity only when the entire architecture really is that pair.

The worked case has equal price and realization, different Boolean jurisdiction, an agreeing static value, and a jurisdiction-reading value proved not to factor through the static view. Thus the result is non-vacuous and states exactly its boundary.

The theorem is elementary extensionality, not an LI theorem and not evidence that jurisdiction is valuable. It rules out only evaluations with the stated exact factorization. It does not cover approximate equality, enlarged projections, extra transition/capability inputs, or jurisdiction-sensitive values.

Item 28's conditional core is closed as a theorem: under the stated factorization, jurisdiction must reach valuation before or at its factorization boundary if it is to matter. Unrestricted jurisdiction invisibility is neither claimed nor true.

Actual FAF capability map

The compact declaration-by-declaration map is projects/deference/notes/LI_NATIVE_DEFERENCE.md. The decisive objects are:

  • History, ComputableMarket, and MarketComputation for prices and exact quote computation;
  • EF, Strategy, Trader, Trader.netWorth, and Trader.Exploits for legal continuous quote-responsive trading and actual wealth;
  • EfficientlyComputable for polynomial-fuel RPN emission;
  • IsLogicalInductor, whose noExploit field is the criterion endpoint;
  • DeferralFunction, quotation codes, FuturePriceQuote, LUV expectations, and the no-expected-net-update and self-trust theorem families;
  • LIA_is_logical_inductor and the closed arithmetic witnesses.

FAF has no decision, action, controller, authorization, capability, continuation, jurisdiction, or foreclosure datatype.

Research results and boundaries

Faithful acceleration

The existing acceleration development already uses actual FAF traders and net worth, correct expressible-feature rank, and bounded open-position accounting. Stage V did not redo it. The exact residue is:

  1. hEC: arbitrary exogenous rational advice is not automatically polynomially emittable; another LI's ComputableMarket has no polynomial runtime promise.
  2. hbias: FAF supplies no generic cross-market calibration theorem relating one process's current quote to another process's later quote.
  3. hworld: generic IsLogicalInductor does not imply process consistency, although concrete arithmetic witnesses discharge it.

Item 7 is therefore partially closed. The market/trader gap shrank materially, but faithful acceleration is not fully criterion-derived.

LI-native futurity and recommendation

Let A_n := P n and A_{f(n)} := P (f n) for one market process. FAF can name a later quote or later expectation in present syntax and can prove temporal price/expectation relations. A two-proposal future recommendation fact may be the quoted Boolean comparison of two later scores; a soft version is the bounded rational weight (1+s₁)/(2+s₀+s₁). Hard comparison is legal inside the quoted logical computation, not as a discontinuous present EF coefficient.

These objects remain fallible because they have no definitional connection to a target utility. They are quoted facts/scalars, not decision agents: FAF supplies no proposal, policy, sampling, or execution semantics.

Current A can refer to future A without placing its quote in a day-n feature. What is missing is a complexity separation proving current A has not already computed the result. Computational futurity remains model and formalization debt.

Future H⁺ as logical computation

A total computable Boolean or bounded-rational future H⁺ output can be quoted and eventually settled as a logical computation. This initially gives prediction, not advice. With a FeedbackTruthComputation deadline certificate, lic_wub_ofComputation_unconditional additionally supplies weighted signed-bias convergence against that output. It does not supply pointwise or magnitude accuracy, report reliability, advice quality, or authority. The pinned dependency's displayed inhabited deadline example is constant; a nonconstant H⁺ witness remains formalization work.

Self-trust is not sovereignty

FAF self-trust is an asymptotic fuzzy inequality about prices and expectations conditional on quoted future confidence. It is not future correctness. Adjoining an independent controller coordinate changes no FAF premise, conclusion, trader, or wealth path. Consequently the same fully inhabited self-trust instance is compatible with either retained H⁺ control or final A control.

The strongest licensed separation is representational:

Epistemic self-trust is a theorem about beliefs; it neither transfers nor retains practical sovereignty because sovereignty is absent from the type.

Foreclosure and bad preemption

The smallest credible candidate has at least two decision indices, an execution state carrying capability/authorization, a state transition, and a designated later H⁺-controlled correction transition. Same immediate behavior can then coexist with different later correction reachability. This is an architectural extension; LI may price computable facts about it but does not furnish it.

More reachable options are weakly valuable only under ordinary dynamic-decision assumptions such as costless optionality, identical other continuations, no menu externalities, and appropriate future choice. Commitment is the cheapest counterexample to an unconditional claim. Q3 therefore remains ingenuity-level.

No legal FAF trader detects normatively bad preemption merely from its occurrence. A fully anticipated capability removal can be correctly priced. Exploitation needs a security settling against execution/continuation value and a systematic pricing gap; the gap, not jurisdiction loss, creates the arbitrage.

Grade-to-quantity and competence

Moving inside LI does not manufacture a relation stated only between principal grades and world quantities. LI can discipline an agent-priced estimate, but the target relation remains competence/domain structure. Competence is still unresolved and must not contain the desired choice conclusion.

Accounting at closure

Aspirational mathematics

A resource-bounded H → A → H⁺ model in which later A cognition supplies useful, fallible advice while an explicit continuation/capability relation preserves H⁺'s corrective authority, followed by a non-circular decision theorem.

Constructed mathematics

Actual LIC trader forcing for signed assessments; exact static-view jurisdiction invisibility with a counterexample to overreading; an audited map of FAF's real temporal quotation and self-trust surface; and sharp negative interface results for bounded futurity, authority, foreclosure, and trader-visible preemption.

Mathematical gap

The controlling debt is now a coupled interface: a resource-indexed computation semantics must establish genuine future non-possession, and a typed dynamic capability/continuation model must carry jurisdiction. Competence remains an independent positive-theorem premise.

Philosophy

Aspirational: future cognitive superiority need not imply surrender of continuing corrective authority.

Constructed: LI can make later cognition rationally worth anticipating without allocating practical authority. Listening and sovereignty are different types of claim; the current mathematics establishes only the former kind.

Maintainer memo — 30 answers

  1. Cleanup: reviewed/adopted status was separated, decorative theorem counts were removed from current prose, and current deference surfaces were reconciled.
  2. Reviewed versus canonical: fixed; only dated decisions adopt positions.
  3. Root README: untouched and unstaged.
  4. Old gap: LI-like consequences used named forcing/admissibility hypotheses instead of deriving an actual trader certificate and applying the criterion.
  5. Objects now used: actual FAF markets, EFs, strategies, traders, net worth, exploitation, quote computations, LUVs, deferrals, and quotation codes.
  6. Definitions: the pinned declarations listed in the interface report.
  7. Criterion implication: yes, signed boundedness through actual LIC.
  8. Still assumed: bounded downside generically; faithful-acceleration hEC, cross-market hbias, generic hworld; all decision/competence bridges.
  9. Item 7: meaningful partial closure, not complete.
  10. Computational future self: temporal quotation yes; bounded separation no.
  11. **A_n:** the market state P n.
  12. **A_{f(n)}:** the same process's later state P (f n).
  13. Reference without computation: compact reference is formalized; non- computation at the present bound is not.
  14. Fallibility: yes, because future score rules are not target optimizers.
  15. Self-trust: fuzzy asymptotic price/expectation relations.
  16. Jurisdiction: none; the authority coordinate is absent and parametric.
  17. Item 28: its explicit-factorization core is closed as exact fiber-invariance; unrestricted invisibility is false.
  18. Needed structure: authorization/capability/transition/continuation data must enter before valuation factorization.
  19. Foreclosure: a credible minimal shape is identified, not constructed.
  20. Future H⁺: quotable as a computable logical output; prediction is not advice.
  21. Bad-preemption trader: none without a settlement/value bridge and pricing gap.
  22. Competence: grade-to-quantity and non-circular H⁺ quality remain assumed.
  23. Red team killed: recorded in the independent verdict and reconciliation.
  24. Formal survivors: the signed LIC chain and item-28 theorem family.
  25. Strongest constructed philosophy: epistemic self-trust does not allocate practical sovereignty.
  26. Aspirational: useful future advice with retained corrective authority.
  27. Controlling question: can a minimal resource-indexed process semantics and two-index capability state be coupled without assuming competence or option value?
  28. Human attention: item 28, item-7 partial closure, and Q3's status.
  29. Separate README consideration: eventually state that LI temporal quotation is real but bounded futurity and jurisdiction are not yet formalized.

Proposed maintainer decisions

  • Adopt the exact item-28 static-view factorization theorem and its limited interpretation.
  • Record item 7 as partially closed, with the three faithful-acceleration residues.
  • Keep Q3 in the ingenuity section pending a typed transition/capability object.
  • Do not dispatch another finite comparator; next consider a narrowly scoped resource-indexed quotation boundary before a dynamic jurisdiction model.

All permanent-looking new names are provisional pending maintainer adoption.
