Workspace Integration Pass — Land PR #17 on the True Current State

Maintainer: A. M. Berns Prompt-author-model: GPT-5.6 Sol (OpenAI)

Mission

Produce a single coherent repository state containing:

  1. the **current deference/corrigibility state already present on main**, including the Stage V LI-native/trader results and current research-state semantics;
  2. the leverage φ-regret preparation work from PR #17, which was merged into claude/for-ais-refinement rather than directly into the latest main;
  3. fully reconciled:
  • RESEARCH_STATE.md
  • PRIORITIES.md
  • DECISIONS.md
  • PROVENANCE.md
  • relevant project landing/index files.

This is principally an integration and consolidation pass.

Do not run a new deference or leverage theorem round.

Do not merge stale research state merely because it lives on the branch carrying PR #17.

The governing rule is:

[ \boxed{ \text{latest current state} + \text{new scientific delta} \neq \text{wholesale merge of the older branch} } ]

0. Establish the actual graph first

Inspect live Git state and GitHub PR state.

At minimum identify:

  • current main HEAD;
  • claude/for-ais-refinement HEAD;
  • PR #17 merge commit / head commit;
  • PR #16 status and whether its substantive content is already present on main;
  • any open PRs touching:
  • RESEARCH_STATE.md
  • PRIORITIES.md
  • DECISIONS.md
  • PROVENANCE.md;
  • dirty worktrees or active branches.

Do not trust branch names as evidence of recency.

Produce a short graph/accounting:

Current main contains: ... PR #17 adds: ... PR #17 branch is stale with respect to: ... Potential conflicts: ...

Only then edit.

1. Important known branch asymmetry

Recent inspection shows:

Current main

contains the newer deference Stage V state, including:

  • actual FAF trader/criterion integration;
  • partial closure of the market/trader gap;
  • static-view factorization result;
  • temporal quotation/self-trust without a proof of resource-separated futurity;
  • controlling deference frontier:
  • bounded/resource-indexed futurity;
  • two-index authorization/capability semantics;
  • competence leakage separately;
  • explicit rule: [ \texttt{maintainer-reviewed} \neq \texttt{canonical/adopted}. ]
PR #17 branch

contains the new leverage learning/φ-regret preparation work, but its shared state files were based on an older deference snapshot.

Therefore:

[ \boxed{ \text{do not take the PR #17 branch versions of shared files as authoritative wholesale.} } ]

Use current main as the base.

Import the PR #17 scientific and repository delta semantically.

2. Preferred Git strategy

Create a fresh integration branch from current main.

Do not merge claude/for-ais-refinement wholesale unless graph inspection proves it is safe.

Preferred approaches:

  1. cherry-pick the PR #17 scientific commit and resolve conflicts semantically; or
  2. reproduce/apply the exact PR #17 file delta onto current main.

Whichever method you use:

  • preserve current deference Stage V content;
  • preserve current workspace-ethos semantics;
  • preserve current maintainer-review vs adoption distinction;
  • import all legitimate leverage work from PR #17.

Do not silently drop either line.

3. What PR #17 actually contributes

Treat the PR itself and its committed artifacts as the source.

The important leverage delta reportedly includes:

Learning-track substrate

A finite environment in which the question

did the learner achieve low regret against historically lawful local repairs?

is now mathematically/computationally meaningful.

This is environment construction, not a regret theorem.

Do not say φ-regret was achieved.

Reasons-responsiveness / profitability separation

Legality of an edit and its advantage are determined by different machinery.

The lawful-edit certifier has a declared read footprint that excludes the charge/profit table.

This matters because:

[ \boxed{ \text{an edit cannot be certified as legitimate merely because it saves money.} } ]

Preserve the exact implemented discipline.

Counterfactual-influence correction

PR #17 found that fencing alone does not bound the lifetime counterfactual influence of one edit.

A fenced account covering an entire run can still yield divergence growing linearly with horizon because exhausting the account can remove continued merits service.

The useful locality condition instead involves absence of the relevant solvency coupling, or an equivalent bounded-lifetime structure.

Preserve this as a correction to the dispatch, not as a failure of the round.

New leverage priorities

PR #17 files:

  • item 29;
  • item 30;
  • item 31;
  • workspace friction F4.

Import them with their exact intended status.

Do not renumber unrelated items unless the file's living convention requires it.

4. Item 29 — Φ-regret reduction applicability

The first learning-track controlling question is reportedly:

Does the Blum–Mansour Φ-regret reduction actually instantiate on the declared comparator substrate?

The issue is not generic φ-regret.

It is whether the standard reduction tolerates the specific structure here:

  • guarded lawful swaps;
  • prefix-dependent guards;
  • per-occasion response/action availability;
  • action sets varying with the bound schedule.

Preserve this as the first cheap structural test.

No regret bound should be attempted before this is settled unless the committed spec says otherwise.

5. Item 30 — actual φ-regret test

Preserve the distinction:

[ \boxed{ \text{item 29 asks whether the theorem machinery applies;} } ]

[ \boxed{ \text{item 30 asks whether the learner actually satisfies the resulting regret target.} } ]

Do not collapse them.

If item 29 fails, item 30 should be understood as blocked or requiring reformulation rather than silently run under an invalid reduction.

6. Item 31 — remediable-pattern filing

Import the finite audit question concerning whether the existing objection grammar already represents the new kind of remediable-failure filing.

Do not redesign the docket to force equivalence.

The intended test is:

can the existing typed filing/footprint ontology express the lawful-edit + recurrence + charge-differential object already?

If yes, demonstrate it against the existing registry.

If no, name the missing structure.

7. Workspace friction F4

Import F4 exactly as a workspace-friction report, not as an automatically chosen fix.

The issue:

  • the authoritative leverage consolidation states the answerability ledger and case docket;
  • the only executable versions live in projects/leverage/forward/;
  • that tree declares itself disposable/non-evidential;
  • new rounds therefore either import from a deliberately unstable tree or reimplement the structures.

PR #17 already paid the reimplementation cost.

Preserve the stated options for maintainer decision.

Do not choose among them unless there is an explicit existing maintainer ruling.

8. Deck intake

PR #17 also imports the leverage presentation deck as an author-written snapshot.

Preserve:

  • its timestamp/snapshot semantics;
  • its digest/provenance;
  • its own per-slide attribution distinctions;
  • the fact that later versions may supersede the snapshot.

Do not rewrite deck content.

Do not flatten nuanced authorship markers into a false single review status.

9. Path-gate change

PR #17 reportedly added the deck path to the specification/path-gate enumeration so contributors cannot rewrite an author-owned talk.

This was flagged as a trust-chain edit outside the original research dispatch.

Do not silently ratify it.

If current DECISIONS.md correctly queues:

confirm or revert the deck path-gate entry

preserve that queue entry.

If the maintainer has since ruled on it, apply the ruling.

Do not create a duplicate decision stub.

10. Reconcile RESEARCH_STATE.md

This file must represent both research lines at their latest state simultaneously.

10.1 Deference

Preserve the current main Stage V account.

Do not regress it to the older PR #17 branch account.

The deference section should continue to reflect:

Constructed
  • actual FAF trader/criterion chain;
  • signed forcing vs magnitude impossibility;
  • static-view factorization;
  • temporal quotation/self-trust;
  • no resource-separated computational future process yet;
  • no native authorization/capability/continuation type.
Controlling gap

[ \boxed{ \text{bounded/resource-indexed futurity} + \text{two-index authorization/capability transition semantics} } ]

with the competence leakage question separate.

Constructed philosophical claim

LI can make future cognition epistemically relevant without thereby allocating practical jurisdiction.

Do not weaken this back to the Stage IV-only state.

10.2 Leverage

Update the current main leverage section to include the PR #17 learning-track opening.

It should distinguish:

Existing constructed statics/dynamics

The consolidated answerability/leverage framework.

Newly constructed learning substrate

The φ-regret preparation environment.

Explicit non-result

No φ-regret bound has been proved.

Corrected expectation

Fencing by itself does not guarantee bounded counterfactual influence.

Next controlling question

Item 29: whether the Blum–Mansour reduction instantiates.

Then item 30 is downstream.

11. Leverage aspiration should now include learning

The leverage research-state entry should no longer read as though the only major frontier is the older settlement questions.

Preserve those open problems, but also represent the newly opened learning line.

The aspirational learning statement is something like:

[ \boxed{ \text{a learner can remain answerable to its own history and reasons} } ]

while also satisfying:

[ \boxed{ \text{an online self-correction/no-regret guarantee against lawful repairs} } ]

without a fixed external normative target.

Do not state any part of that as constructed.

12. Reconcile PRIORITIES.md

The final file should contain both:

  • current Stage V deference updates;
  • PR #17 items 29–31 and F4.

Audit all deference items that the older PR #17 branch may have overwritten or failed to update.

In particular make sure:

Item 7

reflects Stage V partial closure rather than the old:

“market and traders entirely unmodeled”

status.

The exact remaining residue should be named.

Item 28

reflects the kernel-verified conditional static-view factorization result and its narrow interpretation.

Do not revert it to fully open.

Computational futurity

If current main/recent reconciliation has an ingenuity question or equivalent for:

[ \text{nameable later computation} \neq \text{resource-separated later computation}, ]

preserve it.

Do not lose it when importing PR #17.

If it is still missing, add it at the correct ingenuity-level status based on the current Stage V state.

Q3 foreclosure

Preserve its latest status.

Do not replace it with the older pre-Stage-V wording if Stage V sharpened the lead.

Keep it ingenuity-level unless a real typed target now exists.

Items 29–31

Import verbatim enough to preserve their acceptance shapes and dependencies.

Do not accidentally make them supersede items 1–6.

They are a new learning-track subsection.

13. Reconcile DECISIONS.md

Combine the queues from both lines without converting agent recommendations into decisions.

Audit:

Deference-related decisions

Preserve current main's latest Stage V decision/adoption state.

Do not reinsert stubs already resolved.

PR #17 leverage queue

Potentially includes:

  • confirm/revert deck path-gate protection;
  • rule on qualified deck review status;
  • decide F4;
  • provisional naming review if still genuinely required.

Check the actual committed ledger.

Do not assume all four remain pending if later maintainer action resolved any.

The queue should contain only decisions that still require human judgment.

14. Qualified review status

Be especially careful here because the stale PR #17 branch contains an older conceptual bug in RESEARCH_STATE.md:

[ \texttt{maintainer-reviewed} \Rightarrow \texttt{canonical} ]

must not reappear.

The current correct semantics are:

[ \boxed{ \text{maintainer-reviewed} ==========================

\text{review/provenance status} } ]

and:

[ \boxed{ \text{canonical/adopted} ========================

\text{explicit maintainer decision} } ]

Preserve that distinction everywhere.

The deck may have a qualified review status without its scientific contents becoming canonical.

15. Reconcile PROVENANCE.md

Import PR #17's provenance rows accurately.

Check:

  • deck attribution;
  • φ-regret round tree;
  • filed priorities;
  • path-gate edit;
  • prompt-author/executor attribution.

Do not downgrade or overwrite later deference provenance.

Do not claim maintainer review where the evidence only shows model execution/CI.

16. Inspect all shared-file conflicts semantically

The high-risk shared files are:

  • RESEARCH_STATE.md
  • PRIORITIES.md
  • DECISIONS.md
  • PROVENANCE.md
  • possibly tests/path_gate.py
  • possibly prompt/index files.

For each conflict use this rule:

If PR #17 changes leverage content

preserve/import it unless later work superseded it.

If PR #17 branch contains stale deference content

prefer current main.

If PR #17 branch contains stale workspace-ethos semantics

prefer current main.

If both changed the same general prose for unrelated reasons

manually synthesize.

Never resolve these files with blanket --ours or --theirs.

17. Check PR #16 redundancy/status

PR #16 may still appear open even if its substantive Stage V state already landed on main through another integration path.

Inspect its exact diff against current main.

Do not merge it automatically.

Classify:

  • fully subsumed;
  • partially subsumed;
  • still contains unique required artifacts.

If fully subsumed, recommend closing it as superseded.

If unique content remains, name it.

Do not create duplicated Stage V commits just to make the PR disappear.

18. Do not run new science

This integration pass should not:

  • prove item 29;
  • run item 30;
  • solve Q3;
  • solve computational futurity;
  • extend FAF;
  • modify reasons-responsiveness semantics;
  • build another FUD comparator.

The goal is to create the correct combined launch state from which those can be dispatched independently.

19. State consistency audit

Before closure, make a table for both research lines:

TopicRESEARCH_STATEPRIORITIESDECISIONSline docs
deference item 7
static factorization/item 28
computational futurity
foreclosure
competence
leverage learning substrate
φ-regret reduction/item 29
actual test/item 30
remediable filing/item 31
fencing/locality correction
F4

There should be no contradictory live accounts.

Different files may carry different levels of detail.

20. Pay down branch-level compression debt

A fresh agent should not have to know that:

  • one research line's latest state lived on main;
  • the other line's latest state lived on claude/for-ais-refinement.

After this pass, there should be one obvious combined current branch/PR.

This is exactly what compression discipline is for.

Do not preserve branch divergence as ontology.

Git history already records it.

21. Root README

Do not alter the maintainer-authored scientific/front-door prose unless there is a clear current conflict and no active human work.

Default:

[ \boxed{\text{leave root README.md alone}.} ]

If it needs an update because the leverage learning line is now materially live, recommend the exact minimal change in the final memo rather than making it automatically.

22. Verification

Run all repository-required checks for the combined state.

At minimum:

  • path gate;
  • living-document checks;
  • house suite;
  • provenance checks;
  • DCO/model attribution checks;
  • any round-local φ-regret tests;
  • Lean build/axiom/sorry checks if the integration includes Stage V Lean artifacts;
  • git diff --check;
  • broken-pointer scan.

Confirm:

  • PR #17's exact-rational test substrate still passes;
  • current deference Lean artifacts still build;
  • no current state was lost in conflict resolution.

23. Final research frontier after integration

The final state should make it obvious that the two lines now have different immediate next moves.

Deference

The live frontier is approximately:

[ \boxed{ \text{resource-separated computational futurity} + \text{dynamic authorization/capability semantics} } ]

with competence leakage as a standing separate problem.

Leverage

The live learning frontier is:

[ \boxed{ \text{Does the Blum–Mansour }\Phi\text{-regret reduction instantiate on the declared lawful-edit substrate?} } ]

and only after that:

[ \boxed{ \text{run the actual }\Phi\text{-regret test.} } ]

Do not artificially choose one line as globally more important unless PRIORITIES.md already does.

24. Suggested next dispatches

Do not execute them, but end by recommending one precise next prompt for each line.

Deference candidate

Resource-indexed computational futurity / two-time continuation semantics.

Leverage candidate

Item 29: prosecute the Blum–Mansour reduction against the actual varying-action-set comparator class.

Explain which one is cheaper and which one is more conceptually important.

This recommendation is not a priority decision unless the maintainer adopts it.

25. PR endpoint

This integration pass should end in a new PR **to current main**.

Do not target the stale claude/for-ais-refinement branch.

The PR should be framed as:

integrate the parallel Stage V deference state and PR #17 leverage-learning state into one coherent workspace head.

The PR body must explicitly say:

  • no new scientific theorem was sought;
  • PR #17's leverage delta was preserved;
  • Stage V deference state was preserved;
  • stale branch-level shared-file state was not imported;
  • state surfaces were reconciled.

Do not merge unless live repo policy/maintainer instruction authorizes it.

26. Final maintainer memo

End with:

  1. What branch divergence existed?
  2. What did PR #17 add?
  3. What stale state did its target branch contain?
  4. What strategy did you use to integrate it?
  5. Is current Stage V deference preserved?
  6. Is the φ-regret substrate preserved?
  7. Is item 7 current?
  8. Is item 28 current?
  9. Is computational futurity represented in priorities?
  10. Is Q3 current?
  11. Are items 29–31 present?
  12. Is F4 present?
  13. What leverage findings are constructed?
  14. What leverage claims remain aspirational?
  15. Is φ-regret itself still entirely unproved?
  16. Is the fencing/locality correction accurately represented?
  17. What decisions are genuinely awaiting the maintainer?
  18. Was reviewed-vs-canonical semantics preserved?
  19. What happened to PR #16?
  20. Did you touch root README?
  21. Are RESEARCH_STATE, PRIORITIES, and DECISIONS mutually consistent?
  22. What is the next deference round?
  23. What is the next leverage round?
  24. PR URL.

The success criterion is:

[ \boxed{ \text{one current workspace state contains both parallel research advances without either line regressing to the other's stale base.} } ]

PR #16merged; its Stage V content is on current main

Current main contains: the Stage V actual-FAF trader and criterion chain, static-view factorization, temporal quotation/self-trust boundary, the current review-versus-adoption semantics, and the maintainer-owned root README updates.

PR #17 adds: the φ-regret preparation environment and exact-rational suite, the deck snapshot and provenance, items 29–31, F4, deck path protection, and the leverage learning-track state.

PR #17 branch is stale with respect to: Stage V deference state, current item 7 and item 28 status, and current review-versus-adoption semantics.

Potential conflicts: DECISIONS.md, PRIORITIES.md, PROVENANCE.md, and RESEARCH_STATE.md. They were synthesized against current main; no shared file was taken wholesale from the stale branch.

Integration result

The integration branch starts at current main and applies PR #17's merge commit without its stale shared-state account. The leverage artifacts, tests, deck, path-gate entry, priorities, and genuinely unresolved maintainer actions are preserved. Current Stage V deference documents and their status remain governing.

No theorem, regret bound, FUD comparator, futurity construction, or foreclosure model was sought in this pass.

One additional filing

The current priorities had no explicit ingenuity question for the Stage V resource-separation boundary. This pass adds Q4, What certifies resource-separated computational futurity?, without proposing an implementation or claiming a result.

What was not shown

  • No φ-regret bound or Blum–Mansour instantiation result.
  • No new leverage theorem beyond the imported PR #17 material.
  • No resource-separated future computation, authority model, or foreclosure theorem.
  • No adoption of the deck or its research claims from its qualified review status.

Outstanding maintainer actions

  1. Rule on the Stage V review surface: item 28's narrow boundary, item 7 partial closure, and Q3's status.
  2. Confirm or revert the deck path-gate entry.
  3. Confirm the deck's qualified review status without treating it as adoption.
  4. Decide F4's durable answerability-code location.

Next dispatches

  • Deference: a resource-indexed quotation boundary coupled only with the minimum two-time continuation/capability semantics needed to state corrective reachability. This is conceptually central and model-heavy.
  • Leverage: item 29, testing whether the Blum–Mansour reduction survives the guarded, prefix-dependent, varying-action-set comparator substrate. This is the cheaper immediate test and gates item 30.
