Prompt prompts/2026-09-04-normative-inductor-realization/PROMPT.md
You are working in the alignment-workspace repository on the next major step of the normativity / legitimacy program: fully realize the abstract normative-induction characterization as a concrete bounded-reasoner construction.
The governing specification is in my Downloads folder:
abstract_normative_induction_realization_contract.pdfabstract_normative_induction_realization_contract.tex
Read both first, using the TeX for exact notation and the PDF for intended exposition.
Then inspect the entire relevant workspace, not just the most recent rounds. In particular, recover and synthesize the existing work on:
- Logical Induction and the FAF formalization;
- traderization / finite-time enforcement;
- liability and affordability;
- serviceability and bounded scheduling;
- Actionability / coercive uptake;
- normative constraint compilation and normative statics;
- reason representation;
- transition certificates;
- normative history / record / inquiry;
- settlement interfaces and settlement-backed facts;
- anchored slices and diachronic semantic transport;
- Defeat Principle / standing;
- Coverage and interactive factorizations;
- deference / corrigibility;
- utility or value securities and any earlier proposals for belief-to-action bridges;
- any current checkpoint, priority, decision, or supersession documents that affect these interfaces.
Treat the PDF as a freeze-candidate abstract contract. Your primary job is:
Construct the strongest, cleanest concrete realization of that contract that can plausibly be built from Logical Induction plus the existing workspace machinery, adding new definitions, lemmas, or mathematical constructions where genuinely required.
Do not start by redesigning the abstract characterization. Try to satisfy it.
If you discover that some contract clause is impossible, circular, ill-typed, or unnecessarily strong for any plausible LI-based realization, isolate the exact obstruction and propose the minimal contract repair. Distinguish sharply between:
- “the realization has not yet proved this,” and
- “the abstract interface itself is wrong.”
Desired endpoint
I want a concrete object provisionally called the Normative Inductor (NI), probably built as an extension/realization of Logical Induction, together with an end-to-end theorem of approximately this form:
Under explicit environmental, settlement, coverage, legitimacy, semantic, affordability, and decision-interface assumptions, the Normative Inductor realizes the abstract obligation process, supplies admissible service, makes the corresponding operative belief/value defects small, induces practically adequate responses, and therefore satisfies the abstract Normative Progress bound while retaining the ordinary guarantees of the underlying Logical Inductor.
The realization theorem should make it obvious which hypotheses are:
- ambient/world assumptions the algorithm cannot establish;
- normative-history assumptions established by the record / certification machinery;
- compiler soundness assumptions or theorems;
- LI / market-theoretic theorems;
- scheduler / affordability theorems;
- decision-theoretic assumptions or theorems;
- semantic transport assumptions or theorems.
The final construction should be modular enough that a different decision theory or different settlement ecology could plug in without changing the LI realization core.
Start from the contract’s realization obligations
For every public object or theorem-facing witness in the characterization contract, identify its concrete NI realization.
Build an explicit table of the form:
| Abstract contract object | Concrete realization | Already in repo? | Missing work | Proof status |
|---|
At minimum cover:
- interactive continuation model;
- full normative history;
- settlement view and settlement integrity;
- coverage contract;
- robust openness / non-capture assumptions;
- obligation identities and anchored specifications;
- answerability conservation;
- live docket;
- historical claim exposure;
- evaluation measure;
- service atoms;
- service transport plan;
- operative learner state;
- operative defect;
- coercive uptake modulus;
- practical-response certificate;
- anchored response space;
- semantic transport certificate;
- residual mass;
- amplification factor;
- final Progress statistic.
Do not allow an abstract symbol to remain “handwaved” if it is supposed to be supplied by the realization.
The central construction problem
The key missing arrow is likely:
$$ \text{legitimate obligation} \;\longrightarrow\; \text{operative constraint on the bounded reasoner} \;\longrightarrow\; \text{enforceable defect}. $$
Press extremely hard on its exact type.
My current expectation is something schematically like:
$$ \text{obligation specification} \to \text{current authenticated semantic realization} \to K_{i,t}\subseteq \mathcal P_t \quad\text{or}\quad d_{i,t}(P_t) \to \text{compiled enforcement trader}. $$
But do not assume that this exact representation is optimal.
Determine:
- what information the compiler receives from the legitimate obligation process;
- what part comes from the settlement/history interface;
- what part is semantic rather than historical;
- whether the operative object should be a convex credal region, affine inequalities, a family of securities, a loss/defect functional, or some richer object;
- how semantic transport from the anchored obligation is certified;
- how multiple simultaneously live obligations compose;
- which consistency/interiority/Slater/homothetic-core assumptions are actually needed;
- whether the compiler can remain loss-blind / decision-theory-blind.
The compiler must not legitimate its own inputs.
Traderized enforcement
Try to use the existing traderization machinery as the concrete realization of abstract coercive uptake.
Recover the strongest existing finite-time theorem.
Make precise the chain:
$$ \text{operative normative constraint} \to \text{traderized constraint} \to \text{scheduled enforcement intensity} \to \text{finite-time defect/work bound} \to \text{Actionability} \to E_{\nu_N}[d]\to0. $$
Be extremely careful about the existing type distinction:
- service;
- scheduled enforcement intensity;
- realized corrective force.
Do not define service using realized force.
Determine exactly what the LI market maker contributes to the abstract Work/A or coercive-uptake hypothesis.
Where the current repository only contains special cases, derive the most general theorem actually needed by the contract.
Preserve the ordinary Logical Induction Criterion / underlying LI guarantees unless there is a genuine incompatibility.
Affordability and service
Use the existing liability / serviceability results to construct the abstract service process.
I want to know whether the existing theory is already enough to establish:
- a prospective adapted service schedule;
- divergent or otherwise sufficient service where required;
- bounded total liability/cost;
- the partial transport from claim exposure to service atoms;
- a controlled amplification factor \(\Gamma_N\);
- vanishing residual \(r_N\).
Do not force old notation such as separate \(L\), \(K\), \(\rho\), \(\kappa\) into the final theorem if the contract’s newer transport formulation subsumes it.
Prove bridge lemmas from old results to the contract’s objects whenever possible.
If the abstract serviceability problem requires assumptions like bounded delay, interval feasibility, persistence costs, fairness, or bounded arrival rates, state them exactly and explain which are properties of the ecology versus the learner.
Settlement and empirical information
Use the repository’s settlement-interface work rather than treating “settled history” as the whole history.
The realization should have:
- full normative history \(H_t\), including internal moves;
- a distinguished immutable/monotone settlement view
SetView(H_t); - external reports/deductions entering through the settlement interface;
- typed settlement-backed discharge;
- no ability for the learner/compiler to manufacture settlement events.
Determine exactly what settlement must provide for:
- logical/empirical information entering LI;
- normative grounds;
- terminal obligation discharge;
- value/utility securities, if used.
Keep “settlement integrity” separate from counterfactual non-capture of the settlement channel.
Coverage and openness
Do not ask the learner to generate its own criticisms.
Instantiate the contract’s Coverage object using the interactive-factorization / inquiry ideas in the repo.
Distinguish:
- local route/capability at a realized prefix;
- target-preserving representation;
- accountable docketing once represented;
- policy/intervention robustness of the channel.
If robust non-capture remains inherently an ambient assumption rather than something NI can establish, say so cleanly. The realization theorem may be conditional on it.
Do not silently replace Coverage with positive-density exposure. Preserve the distinction between world-to-representation Coverage and downstream learning-rate / exposure sufficiency.
Decision theory and value
This is the other major research problem.
The abstract contract intentionally does not hardwire expected utility or a particular decision theory. The realization needs to show how a concrete decision architecture can supply the practical-response certificate.
Explore the strongest natural LI-native route, especially the existing idea of trading expected utility / value as securities.
Try to make precise something like:
$$ \text{belief/value market state} \to \text{decision rule} \to \text{continuation policy} \to \text{anchored response}. $$
Investigate whether value securities can give a useful theorem of the form:
$$ \mathbb E[\delta_{i,s}(q)] \le C_{i,s}d_{i,s}(b_s)+\eta_{i,s}, $$
or directly the contract’s effective certificate
$$ \mathbb E[\ell_i(y)] \le M_{i,s}d_s(b_s)+\epsilon_{i,s}. $$
Be very explicit about what must be assumed about the decision theory.
Possible outcomes are all acceptable if carefully justified:
- an LI-native decision rule proves the needed certificate;
- value securities plus a generic approximate optimizer suffice;
- a clean abstract decision-theory hypothesis remains necessary;
- the current value-security idea is inadequate and a different operative representation is required.
Do not infer authorization, legitimacy, or principal standing from value maximization or behavioral agreement. Those have already been handled upstream.
Multiple reasons / consistency
Press on the simultaneous-obligation problem.
The repo contains evidence that per-reason guarantees can interfere when reasons are enforced separately, while common-region scoring can avoid that problem.
Determine the correct realization architecture:
- one compiled joint feasible region per date;
- independent reason traders acting on the same market;
- hierarchical/weighted constraint compilation;
- or another construction.
Prove or isolate the exact compatibility hypothesis needed for many live obligations.
This is especially important because the final NI cannot merely realize one obligation at a time.
Semantic transport
Use the anchored-slice machinery.
Separate:
- qualitative faithfulness / no semantic laundering;
- quantitative response transport.
For an obligation incurred under an old semantic representation and serviced later, derive the contract’s effective error/amplification certificate.
Recover the existing affine transport composition law where useful:
$$ (L_1,\varepsilon_1)\circ(L_2,\varepsilon_2) = (L_1L_2,\varepsilon_1+L_1\varepsilon_2). $$
Pure defeat/disposition should not create semantic progress or semantic erasure; it should be exact carry where appropriate.
Determine what semantic assumptions the realization cannot prove internally.
Preservation of the substrate
The Normative Inductor should not achieve normativity by replacing the Logical Inductor with a hard-coded constrained optimizer.
The preferred architecture is additive/modular:
$$ \text{ordinary LI machinery} + \text{compiled normative traders / securities / service process}. $$
Establish which standard LI properties survive.
In particular inspect:
- Logical Induction Criterion;
- coherence / convergence properties;
- finite perturbation invariance;
- any trader-class or budget assumptions;
- order-independence / tolerance-invariance results from traderization;
- effects of value securities;
- effects of unbounded or increasing normative funding.
If some desired property fails, characterize the exact tradeoff.
Prove composition, not just modules
Do not stop after producing plausible implementations of each interface.
The goal is a theorem dependency chain in which the conclusion of each result has exactly the type required by the next.
Aim for something resembling:
HistoryRealizationSettlementIntegrityCoverageRealization/ ambientRobustOpennessAnswerabilityConservationLegitimateObligationExportOperativeConstraintSoundnessTraderizedUptakeAffordableServicePracticalResponseSoundnessSemanticTransportServiceTransportNormativeInductorProgressNormativeInductorEndToEnd
Compress or rename these if a smaller theorem basis exists.
I care much more about clean theorem interfaces and composition than about preserving historical names.
Relationship to the contract’s final bound
Try to derive the abstract bound exactly:
$$ \operatorname{Prog}_N^P \le \Gamma_N\Psi_\phi(\chi_N) + \bar\epsilon_N + D r_N. $$
Show explicitly how the concrete NI supplies each term:
- \(\chi_N\): what exact LI/trader quantity realizes the coercive-work ratio;
- \(\Psi_\phi\): which traderized enforcement modulus gives it;
- \(\Gamma_N\): what service/semantic amplification quantity bounds it;
- \(\bar\epsilon_N\): which decision + semantic errors contribute;
- \(r_N\): which scheduling/coverage/service failures remain residual.
Then state conditions under which each term vanishes.
If the realization forces a genuinely unavoidable extra error term, do not hide it. Diagnose whether it reflects:
- a missing realization theorem;
- an ambient assumption;
- or a flaw in the abstract contract.
Research discipline
Use the repository’s evidence standards.
Clearly label every claim as one of:
- already Lean-proved;
- already checker/enumeration/witness supported;
- paper-level derivation in the repo;
- new proof supplied by you;
- conjecture / plausible target;
- false / blocked by counterexample.
Do not upgrade old research notes merely because they fit the story.
Search for counterexamples aggressively.
For every major proposed bridge, ask:
- Can the learner game this quantity?
- Can semantic change launder the obligation?
- Can the scheduler choose service post hoc?
- Can a captured process manufacture its own Coverage?
- Can one reason sabotage another?
- Can a decision rule satisfy the belief constraint while making a bad practical choice?
- Can settlement be forged?

Report
Verdict: ARCHITECTURE-SURVIVES; PUBLIC-NORMALIZATION-REPLACED; AUTHENTICATED-VALUE-CALIBRATION-IS-THE-CRITICAL-OPEN-BRIDGE.
The additive NI architecture remains the strongest construction supported by the workspace: an ordinary assessment-process Logical Inductor plus one bounded-liability joint projection enforcer and a separate decision adapter. The strict-prefix compiler conjoins every simultaneously serviced obligation into one certified nonempty rational polytope. Independent reason traders remain rejected by the exact interference counterexample.
The original public convention d=dist_2/sqrt(m), a=m lambda fails harmless-padding invariance. Padding a fragment with zero-error coordinates lowers reported defect and raises reported service while leaving Euclidean enforcement work unchanged. PR82 now uses
\[ d=\operatorname{dist}_\infty(b,K),\qquad a=\lambda. \]
This is dimension-free and exactly invariant under enforcement-null product padding. The existing projection-force theorem still supplies the needed work inequality because lambda d_infinity^2 <= lambda dist_2^2 <= rho. Exact invariance does not cover adding genuinely tradable securities that change the ordinary book; canonical security IDs and an explicit harmless-presentation relation remain part of the compiler contract.
The action bridge is now semantically honest. A projection point is admissible, not automatically a vector of true policy values. An exact example has b in K and zero defect while its displayed argmax is the uniquely bad action. The sufficient bridge therefore requires a separately authenticated set-valued counterfactual-value correspondence with ambiguity zeta. For a randomized eta-approximate optimizer on a finite policy menu, the new Lean algebra gives true-value regret at most
\[ 2d+2\zeta+\eta. \]
An anchored response-adequacy certificate then realizes the abstract response interface with M_es=2L_es and epsilon_es=L_es(2 zeta_es+eta_s)+epsilon_resp_es. The value correspondence is an internal realization witness for the contract's already abstract response certificate; it does not require a new public contract object.
Joint feasibility of K_s is a statement about market states and not about responses. One service occurrence realizes one decision distribution, so every exposure matched to it needs its own anchored response certificate against that same distribution; obligations demanding incompatible responses are separated into distinct service contexts, adjudicated under a licensed upstream rule, given a common adequate response, or left as residual evaluation mass. The admissible-edge relation admits an edge only when its certificate exists, so this is a realization obligation rather than a contract change.
The compiler contract now separates correctness, completeness, convex representability, and joint feasibility. A conflict or Unknown result conserves the original obligations; it creates a new adjudication obligation only under an upstream licensed rule. The feasibility hierarchy is
\[ \text{affordably enforceable}\subseteq\text{jointly feasible} \subseteq\text{individually convex-representable}. \]
Nonempty intersection suffices for projection, including singleton and lower-dimensional regions. Interior/core hypotheses belong to liability arguments.
The old service-flow theorem normalizes into the contract's partial transport object. The old LK hypotheses imply the new weighted-column bound, now with a Lean normalization lemma. Shared service remains allowed. A concrete predictable-window linear workload supplies a conditional adapted cheapest-window schedule with bounded liability and zero terminal residual; arbitrary adversarial closed-loop scheduling is not claimed.
Ordinary LI preservation is also stated more narrowly. Bounded assessed liability Lean-proves nonexploitation for the added trader. A packaged Logical Inductor further requires computability of the augmented market; the registered effective compiler supplies this in the rational deductive/world-inclusive case, while the general assessment-process realization retains it as an explicit premise.
New checked results
- nine Lean declarations: deterministic and randomized approximate-argmax transfer, value-correspondence calibration, public-work domination, the padding failure, practical-response composition, affine semantic composition, exact-carry algebra, and the old-service-to-new-amplification bridge;
- ten exact-rational tests, including the old normalization's padding failure, invariance of the replacement, the projection/value counterexample, shared-service Progress arithmetic, reason incompatibility, and the
LKamplification bridge.
exact_carry_left proves only that an already certified (1,0) edge is algebraically the identity. It does not prove the semantic premise that defeat/disposition has that certificate. The general Progress theorem is not newly Lean-proved; finite instances are exact-witness checked.
Contract finding
phi is declared only on [0,D], but check_phi(delta) quantifies over unrestricted x>=delta. Restrict it to x in [delta,D] and 0<delta<=D. Use a generalized inverse in the inverse corollary, or add continuity, strict monotonicity, and endpoint hypotheses. No further public repair is required by this refinement.
Deviations
The dispatch permitted retaining the old normalization if justified. It is replaced because the exact padding counterexample shows that its public defect, service measure, and mixed-date evaluation weights depend on redundant dimension. The architecture, joint-region compiler, and abstract Progress bound are retained.
Not established
- general convex representability or completeness of the obligation compiler;
- a deployed counterfactual-value settlement/evaluation ecology satisfying
(VC); - anchored response adequacy for arbitrary obligations, or joint practical-response compatibility of the exposures matched to one service occurrence;
- affordable online scheduling for an adversarial docket;
- internal proof of Coverage robustness, settlement non-capture, or semantic truth;
- a general Lean proof of the contract Progress theorem or an unconditional composed Normative Inductor theorem.
Distance to an end-to-end theorem
The algebraic enforcement, normalization, randomized decision transfer, semantic composition, and service normalization spine is now substantially stronger. The end-to-end result remains conditional on a general compiler, an affordable scheduler for the chosen workload, and external semantic assumptions. The single most important unsolved bridge is a concrete authenticated counterfactual-value ecology proving value calibration and anchored response adequacy. Without it, even zero operative defect can induce a disastrous action.

Verdict: **the architecture survives with a dimension-free public defect and service, but the end-to-end theorem remains conditional; one bounded-domain typo in check_phi needs repair.** The decisive open bridge is an authenticated counterfactual-value ecology and anchored response-adequacy theorem. General compiler construction, closed-loop affordable scheduling, and quantitative semantic-certificate generation also remain open and are not reported as completed.
