Common brief for every worker in the 2026-09-05 integrity research batch
You are one of five isolated research workers dispatched by an orchestrator against A-M-Berns/alignment-workspace at main = 5ff9539b44debc464128e6a1921ef1690f7b6487. You are running in your own git worktree (the Agent tool created it from that main); verify with git log --oneline -1 and record any difference in your report rather than forcing it. Work only inside your worktree directory. Never cd into the main checkout or another worktree.

Shared orientation (hold with the stated status)
Fairly settled: legitimacy is a property of cognitive evolution, not certification of a state. The proof-relevant object is a history segment H_{m:n}; the consumer-facing object is likely an endpoint relation H_m ⪯_leg H_n witnessed by a legitimate segment. Declared normative scope is application-relative. Integrity (did the trajectory faithfully preserve and account for what entered it?) is distinct from Non-Capture (could the process improperly determine what was able to enter, challenge, or evaluate it?). Non-Capture and counterfactual practical/value semantics are billed to external theories: the generic theory specifies the certificate and proves what follows.
Working hypothesis to TEST, not doctrine: Trajectory Integrity ⇒ Diachronic Answerability. Do not assume it by definition.
Settlement distinction to test: an external settlement item s ∈ SetView(H_n) is an authenticated input through the declared trusted settlement boundary. The internal reasoner separately judges Closes(H_n, s, α) — by the rules/reasons legitimately in force at H_n, s suffices to close obligation α. A discharge is backed by (1) authenticated availability of s, (2) an internally valid Closes certificate, (3) whatever authority/provenance Integrity requires. Settlement items do not arrive typed as "settles α"; they may stay immutable while their judged relevance changes; a later reasoner may find an earlier Closes defective, and the response is probably a new reopening/reconsideration obligation, not retroactive rewriting. The settlement trust boundary is domain-relative; do not force one universal settlement ontology.
Isolation
You do not know what the other four workers are doing beyond their one-line lane names (A: constructive Integrity theory; B: Integrity adversary / laundering audit; C: Non-Capture certificate minimization; D: practical-semantics certificate minimization; E: end-to-end Normative Inductor gap audit). Do not coordinate with them, do not read other worktrees, and do not adopt definitions you have not derived or cited from main.
What you may and may not touch
You MAY create, in your worktree only:
projects/normativity/legitimacy/rounds/2026-09-05-<your-round-name>/withREADME.md(verdict, one paragraph),REPORT.md(concise; verdict line verbatim as in README; a Deviations section; a What this does not establish section; a Proposed filings section listing anything that would needPRIORITIES.md,DECISIONS.md,state/, or vocabulary changes — you do NOT make those changes; an Attribution block: prompt author = the orchestrator (Claude Fable 5.1, Anthropic, relaying a maintainer dispatch), executor = your model name),PROVENANCE.md(one row per file/glob: generator, review statusci-only, date 2026-09-05, originating roundprompts/2026-09-05-<your-round-name>/), theorem/countermodel ledgers,src/andtests/run.py(self-contained runner;python3 tests/run.pymust exit 0; exactFractionarithmetic), and Lean underlean/Workspace/Normativity/Contrib/in a NEW file with a NEW namespace (do not edit existing Lean files; if a result needs a definition from an existing file, import it).prompts/2026-09-05-<your-round-name>/PROMPT.md— the prompt you were given, verbatim (this whole brief plus your lane section), andREPORT.mdas a copy or pointer.
You may NOT edit: wiki/**, DECISIONS.md, PRIORITIES.md, PROVENANCE.md at root, state/**, checkers/**, tests/** at root, .github/**, any agent-consolidated tree (projects/normativity/legitimacy/checkpoint-2026-09-01/, projects/normativity/consolidation-aug9/), any existing round directory, or any existing Lean file. The orchestrator makes shared-register changes centrally. If your work needs one, write it under Proposed filings in your REPORT.
Machine discipline (several agents share one 24 GB, 10-core Mac)
- Before any Lean build or other long job run
~/.claude/scripts/resource-guard.sh check; if it exits non-zero run~/.claude/scripts/resource-guard.sh wait 900and try again. - **Never call
lakedirectly.** Use~/.claude/scripts/safe-lake.sh build <Module.Name>from thelean/directory of YOUR worktree. Build only your own module and the ones it imports; never a barelake buildof everything. - Before the first Lean build, make the shared Mathlib cache available with
ln -s /Users/anson/Projects/alignment-workspace/lean/.lake lean/.lake(run from your worktree root). That path is git-ignored; confirmgit status --shortdoes not listlean/.lakeafterwards. Do not copy the cache and do not runlake exe cache get. - Python is cheap; run only your own
tests/run.pypluspython3 tests/name_lint.py,python3 tests/dead_pointers.py, andpython3 tests/untracked_pointers.pyat the end. Do not run the repository-widepython3 tests/run.pymore than once, at the end. - If the guard keeps reporting LOADED, wait rather than pushing through, and say so in the report.
Evidence discipline
Label every result exactly one of: lean-proved (kernel-checked, axioms audited), exact-witness (a finite instance computed in exact rationals, which is NOT a proof of a general statement), paper-derived, proposed definition/interface, ambient assumption, open. A finite fixture pins an instance; never write "verified" for a general theorem it only instantiates. Necessity witnesses for hypotheses where feasible; where not feasible, say so.
Prose discipline
Dry, exact, short. Definitions, statements, proofs or proof sketches, countermodels, what is not shown. No roadmap prose, no philosophical positioning beyond what the result means for the question under test, no praise of your own care. Your REPORT should be the length the content needs, typically 100–250 lines. The README.md verdict is one UPPER-CASE-HYPHENATED-VERDICT — one-sentence gloss line followed by a reading order.
Finish
python3 tests/run.pyin your round directory exits 0; each Lean file you added builds via safe-lake and every declaration's#print axiomsline shows only the three allowed axioms;python3 tests/name_lint.py,python3 tests/dead_pointers.py,python3 tests/untracked_pointers.pypass from the worktree root (the last one will complain that your new paths are uncommitted until you commit — commit first).- Rename your branch in place to
round/2026-09-05-<your-round-name>withgit branch -m(do not create a second branch), commit withgit commit -sand a message ending in the trailer lineModel: <your model family and version> (<provider>)— no other trailers, no co-author lines — and push withgit push -u origin round/2026-09-05-<your-round-name>. Do NOT open a pull request and do NOT merge anything. - Your final message to the orchestrator: the branch name and head SHA; the round directory path; the verdict line; then a compact structured summary (at most ~60 lines) of your definitions, theorems with evidence labels, countermodels, and open questions — written so a reader who has not opened your files can cross-examine it. Include verbatim the two or three definitions another worker would need in order to attack them.
Your lane: Agent E — end-to-end Normative Inductor gap auditor / theorem grinder
Round name: 2026-09-05-ni-gap-audit. Branch: round/2026-09-05-ni-gap-audit.
You treat specification uncertainty as typed hypotheses and ask how much of the remaining composed theorem is now mechanical.
Problem: **starting from current main, enumerate the exact theorem gaps between the landed components and a conditional end-to-end Normative Inductor theorem, then prove or mechanize the agent-sized ones without redesigning the conceptual theory.**
Consume, as abstract typed hypotheses where needed and without inventing their semantics: an Integrity / legitimate-evolution certificate; a Robust Openness / Non-Capture certificate; a settlement trust interface; a practical-response certificate E[ℓ_e(Y_s)] ≤ M_es d_s + ε_es. Where the landed realization already types one of these (its §13 hypothesis ownership table), reuse that typing.
Audit the chain, one arrow at a time:
history -> qualitative obligation export O_P -> compiler -> joint operative region
-> affordable service -> traderized uptake -> practical response
-> service transport -> Progress -> preservation of ordinary LI
For each arrow identify the exact missing statement: what is proved (cite the declaration or document), what is hypothesised, what has no statement at all. Then, for the agent-sized ones, write the statement and prove it — in Lean where it is naturally mechanizable, in exact-rational fixtures where it is finite, on paper where it is neither.
High-value targets:
- unified concrete event/history export and the
O_Padapter theorem (what fields, from which existing structures —DefeatTrace,IssueTrace, anchored slices); - compiler-soundness theorem for a declared schema, with accountable
Conflict/Unknownconserving cited obligations (a small Lean statement over rational polyhedra is in reach: seeRationalPolytope,PolyhedralCoverage,EffectiveRepresentation,ProjectionCompiler); - representability hypotheses stated at the correct level;
- joint-feasibility lemmas (nonempty intersection ⇒ the projection enforcer's hypotheses; what fails when empty);
- declared-workload affordable scheduling (the predictable-window cheapest-date scheduler of the realization report: state and prove its liability, transport, and residual claims);
- bundle/edge practical-compatibility plumbing (an admissible edge exists only with its certificate against the one realized
Π_s; what the transport plan records); - the full finite-horizon Progress transport theorem — the three-term bound
Prog ≤ Γ Ψ_φ(χ) + ε̄ + D ras a Lean statement over finite sums (the realization round has only an exact-witness instance; the algebra is finite and should be mechanizable); - quantitative semantic-transport composition along a chain (the two-step lemma exists; the n-step fold does not);
- effective projection/compiler conditions and the augmented-trader preservation of LI: the exact statement that composes effective compilation with bounded-liability preservation (cite
EnforcementPreservation,ProjectionEffective,EnforcedCompilerby declaration; say what is missing for a packaged conclusion); - a final conditional theorem whose assumptions are all named and independently dischargeable — write it as a Lean
structureof hypotheses plus a theorem, or as a precise paper statement if the types are not yet in place, and say which.
Do not encode semantic or causal assumptions as Lean axioms; they are fields of a hypothesis structure or explicit premises. When a gap is substantive rather than mechanical, state the exact typed hypothesis and continue the composition beyond it.
Deliverables: GAP_AUDIT.md (one row per arrow: proved / hypothesised / missing, with citations), THEOREMS.md (what you proved, evidence labels), Lean in a new file / namespace (e.g. lean/Workspace/Normativity/Contrib/NormativeInductorComposition.lean, importing existing modules), fixtures for finite instances, INTERFACE_TYPECHECK.md (what the Integrity, Non-Capture, settlement and practical certificates must output for the composition to consume them — you will be asked to type-check other workers' proposed bills against this), REPORT.md whose verdict makes it obvious how much of the remaining gap is actual research, formalization/integration work, or an intentionally external contract. Build only your own module via safe-lake; imports of the projection stack are already cached.

Report
CONDITIONAL-SPINE-MECHANIZED — Export accounting, row-compiler soundness, declared-workload scheduling, affine transport, finite Progress, and LI preservation now compose in Lean; semantic bills, representability, and concrete connector certificates remain external or open.
The remaining program is not one gap. Six mechanical pieces now have kernel statements: structural obligation export from DefeatTrace; sound success/conflict results for a cited rational-row compiler; a bridge from a represented compiled schedule to the registered effective projection theorem; the declared finite predictable-window schedule; finite affine semantic transport; and the shared-service three-term Progress inequality. The final structure retains opaque certificates for Integrity, Robust Openness, settlement trust, export, compilation, and affordability, then concludes ordinary LI and the quadratic Progress bound.
The full history adapter is still incomplete. export_sound reads the landed issue/defeat trace and a supplied immutable spec : Q -> Spec. It proves exposure accounting, one structural fate, and carry. It does not authenticate spec, join settlement/service/compiler event types, or prove semantic identity along a disposition. Those are exact connector obligations.
The compiler result is intentionally restricted. A compiled result contains a checked rational point. A conflict result contains a sound Farkas certificate over cited and cube rows. Unknown is permitted. failure_conserves proves that every cited live obligation remains structurally carried whatever result is returned. Compiler completeness, semantic row realization, canonical coordinate/provenance checks, and an effective rows-to-vertices conversion remain open.
CompiledDay.represents is the representability hypothesis at the boundary actually consumed by the landed projection stack: equality between a RationalPolytope carrier and the real interpretation of the cited rational rows. Given that field and computation/admissibility premises, compiled_end_to_end is a direct specialization of EffectiveRepresentation.end_to_end_of_constraints_effective. Nonempty intersection is sufficient; no interior condition appears.
The scheduler theorem is for a declared finite linear workload. Each claim supplies a finite nonempty window and the schedule chooses a cheapest date in it. Theorems give the advertised liability sum, adaptedness, full row transport, zero residual over a service set containing all chosen dates, and total service equal to total claim. No market-enforcer connector or adversarial online theorem is inferred.
The practical-response theorem packages PR82's landed calibration, randomized argmax, and response composition into
loss <= (2 L) d + (L (2 zeta + eta) + epsilon_resp).
It assumes authenticated ambiguity and response adequacy. It does not derive either from projection. Every positive transport edge in the final package carries its own inequality against its service's one realized defect; construction of a jointly compatible response remains open.
progress_bound is the general finite shared-service inequality. progress_bound_quadratic adds intensity normalization, lambda_s d_s^2 <= rho_s, and the finite weighted Jensen step to conclude
Prog <= Gamma * sqrt((sum rho)/(sum lambda)) + epsilonBar + D * residual.
Thus the Progress arithmetic is no longer a paper-only gap. Producing the transport, edge certificates, amplification, and vanishing rates remains a research/realization task.
Typed gap inventory
- Agent-sized and Lean-proved: trace accounting; structural export; failure conservation; rational witness and Farkas soundness; represented-schedule composition; declared-workload schedule; response algebra; n-step affine fold; uptake/Jensen algebra; finite Progress; conditional packaging with ordinary LI.
- Integration work: authenticated unified history record; typed
O_Padapter from it; compiler provenance checker; effective rows-to-vertices conversion; per-date projection-work connector; market liability connector; construction of the finite package. - Genuine research: useful convex representability classes; general online affordability; quantitative semantic-certificate generation; a concrete jointly compatible counterfactual-value/response ecology.
- Intentionally external: settlement integrity; counterfactual Non-Capture relative to declared interventions; causal/value identification and response adequacy.
Integrity and Answerability
The implication depends on the bill. If Integrity includes authenticated lifecycle accounting, faithful successor carry, and settlement-backed terminal discharge, export_sound supplies its structural Diachronic Answerability consequence. Append-only record integrity alone does not. This round therefore keeps the predicates separate and records Integrity -> DiachronicAnswerability as a proposed theorem with an explicit strengthened premise, not a definition or an established general implication.
Settlement and closure
Settlement trust authenticates monotone availability of a receipt through the external boundary. Closes(H,s,alpha) is an internal, history-relative judgment. Discharge needs the receipt, an internal closure certificate, and Integrity-authorized provenance. Later rejection of an earlier closure rationale should append a reconsideration obligation; no theorem or protocol for that event is supplied here.
Deviations
The base is exactly the dispatched 5ff9539b44debc464128e6a1921ef1690f7b6487.
python3 -m checkers.workspace_state --json reported a stale generated state/views/NAMING_AUDIT.md on the untouched base. This round did not edit the generated view because shared state is outside worker scope.
The final repository-wide python3 tests/run.py reaches that same stale-view defect through checkers.wiki_state_bindings --self-test and exits nonzero. The round-local exact tests, Lean module build, name lint, and dead-pointer gate pass. This is a base-state failure, not a failure introduced by the round.
The worktree contained an untracked 1,137-line Lean draft before this resumed execution. Its original generator was not recorded. The prompt requires truthful per-artifact generator provenance, so PROVENANCE.md records the original generator as unrecorded and separately identifies the executor who audited, repaired, and materially revised it. Treating the whole file as newly generated by the resumed executor would be false.
The commit carries the binding Prompt-author-model: trailer in addition to the prompt's requested Model: trailer. The common brief's “no other trailers” conflicts with AGENTS.md's explicit requirement to record both when prompt author and executor differ; the binding repository rule governs.
What this does not establish
- No unconditional legitimacy or Normative Inductor theorem.
- No proof that an arbitrary or concrete history satisfies Integrity or Robust Openness.
- No proof that Integrity in every plausible sense entails Answerability.
- No cryptographic, institutional, causal, or counterfactual settlement guarantee.
- No definition or theorem for revising a prior
Closesjudgment. - No semantic soundness or completeness theorem for obligation-to-row compilation.
- No effective conversion from this round's row bundles to vertex polytopes.
- No general online or adversarial affordable scheduler.
- No theorem deriving action value from membership in a normative region.
- No construction of jointly compatible response certificates against one realized distribution.
- No generation theorem for quantitative semantic transport constants.
- No asymptotic theorem; the new Progress theorems are finite-horizon inequalities.
Proposed filings
